交換期。搬去粉嶺

你哋好

所以喇最近我哋收到新嘅照換。我喇就會去到粉嶺。都係少少緊張。但係知道我新嘅地區會好好嘅。

So I am moving to 粉嶺 (fan leng) area. After being in 牛頭角 for so long I am kind of sad to be leaving and to be leaving the people that I have loved and helped and have seen their lives change. But it has been super cool to make such good friends and meet such good people and help them improve their lives. And I am really really sad but happy too.

It was super cool to because they asked me and a Sister missionary serving in our ward who is going home to bare our testimonies. And it was super spiritual. And also really cool to see the members and have them be so thankful. I bore my testimony on service because in this ward I have really learned to serve anyone and every one no matter who it is. And though service we can become more Christ like. It has made a huge change in my life.

That is pretty much it. The pictures that i sent the one with all the people in it are from when the members invite the missionaries, Vanessa, and Angus over to their home to eat dinner on Sunday night.

That's pretty much it.

Dear Parents,

First, Sister Phillips and I want you to know that it is an honor and privilege to serve with your sons and daughters. There is not a finer group of missionaries anywhere and we truly love them all.

We wanted to send this message because of the recent change in communication policies that were described by the leaders of the Church. We are grateful and happy for the opportunity that you will have to more frequently communicate with your missionary children. We wanted to make you aware of the ways that you might communicate with missionaries. There are four tools, all free, that we have found will facilitate this communication:

· - Skype, a tool that is used for free online calls and messaging. It can be used on computers and mobile devices like our missionaries use. This will require an email address.

· - WhatsApp, a free app to get secure and simple messaging and calling for free. This will require a mobile telephone number.

· - Facebook Messenger, an app that allows calling and texting for free. This will require a Facebook account.

· - Google Hangouts, an application that allows messaging and video or voice calls. This will require a Gmail account.

Your missionaries have access to all these methods to communicate with you and will likely share with you their preferred method.

Please follow their lead and know that this communication method has two important rules: missionaries must initiate the communication and the communication should occur on preparation day with the exception of special occasions such as Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, parents' birthdays and other culturally significant holidays. Should you need to communicate with your missionary on a day other than preparation day, please contact us first.

Thank you for your support and prayers on behalf of the missionaries. We hope that this additional communication with your sons and daughters will add to the joy of missionary work for the entire family.

Warm regards,

President and Sister Phillips

Happy New Years

Happy Chinese New Year!

It is now the Year of the Pig. And during these days a lot of people go back to mainland. It was a very good week, the people were very nice this week. It was very nice to be able talk to a lot of people. But sadly not too many people had a very big interest to meet with us.

We met with a few people but most of the time we were on the streets. I have been focusing on trying to talk to families, so I tried stopping families and actually now we have like 2 or 3 families that gave us their phone numbers and were willing to meet. Hopefully we will be able to meet with them. The gospel has the power to help all families no matter in what situation.

Angus got the Aaronic priesthood this week and will pass the sacrament next Sunday. And our bishop also realized that both me and my companion are sick so he gave us a blessing and he invited Angus to watch. It was super cool. Our bishop is super solid and it is cool to see how much he cares.

That is pretty much all.

Angus!!

Hello!

This week was super cool. We were able to help Angus get baptized! He hasn't been meeting with us for too long but he wanted to get baptized and he has shown amazing faith through all of the lessons we taught him. It was really cool. And then I was able to give a talk at his baptism which was super cool!

This week we were able to do just a lot of more finding which was good. We need to find new people now. And we were able to meet a lot of new people.

That is pretty much all that has happened.

New Transfers

Hello,

This email will be a bit shorter. This week we got our transfer calls and I will be staying in Ngau Tau Kok with Elder Young. That surprised me because I totally thought I would be leaving. I have been here for 5 transfers and this next one will be my 6th transfer. But, I really do love the area here. So I am not mad at all I actually am really excited.

Angus will be getting baptized this coming Sunday if all goes according to plan.

That is pretty much it.

Elder Gubler

Here is Dor Dor. This other Elder is leaving to Macau so the hand signal that we are doing means the number 6 but you say it as "Luhk" and it is the same tones as this Elder's Chinese name so we have the number 6 because it is the exact sound you say for when you say his name but the characters are different.

We also took Dor Dor to the temple to do baptisms for the dead on saturday. Which she was super excited about.

你好大家

This week has been a very good week. We taught Angus the rest of the commandments and he agreed to meet with us 2 times a week. He is ready to be baptized on the 27th of January. He is super golden.

Vanessa is also super golden! We reviewed the plan of salvation with her mixed with a bit of temple work and eternal families and she really wants her family to accept the gospel. So we are trying to work with her to meet her family but not in an awkward or forceful way. I am super excited for her!

This week I was also able to go on exchanges with Elder Siddoway over in his area (Tai Wai) and it was super fun. We taught a few lessons and went to english class. But it was honestly such a good time to go do missionary work with him. It felt pretty relaxing and it made the work really fun as well.

Also another cool story of the week, I got a huge boil on the underside of my arm. I popped it every morning and night for like 4 or 5 days and squeezed so much gross puss out of it.

And the reason I put a quote from the Great Gatsby on my email is because sometimes people get too caught up in mistakes or other things that they have made in the past. That sometimes they might think they are destined for failing or falling short. But it super cool that how this Gospel can help us be filled with potential. And yes, we might fall short a few times, but it is super cool how we can always be lifted up again by the Lord and always be given a clean start.

That is all.
