Chinese BBQ

Good morning, good morning, good morning!

This week has been great! To start it off, last pday we went with the Mandarin Elders in our district to do a hike in Tuen Mun! It was pretty insane and the view was pretty cool as well! It was also super fun as well!!

Tuesday we were able to do a zone find and go street contacting. I went with Elder Ke (who is a Mandarin Elder that we went hiking with). Elder Ke was born in mainland China and moved to Canada when he was very young! He is super cool and his background story of how he joined the church is super cool because there is a member in the Yuen Long ward (the ward that I serve in now) that served in Canada and converted Elder Ke. And now elder Ke is serving as a Mandarin missionary in Hong Kong in the same ward as the missionary that converted him! IT is crazy how the Lord knows you and how mission calls are inspired from God!

Wednesday was a busy day! We taught our less active again and he is doing great he came to church last week and his wife is slowly accepting the church! He taught us some Chinese characters and then we taught a lesson on the Book of Mormon! It was really good.

The best part of this week though was definitely Sunday night. We got invited to a BBQ at the Jeng Family's house and our mission president and his wife were invited and came too. And to make it even more scary, the temple president was invited and came to this. Also our investigators were invited too so we brought Nicky! Nicky loved it and it was a really good opportunity to get him to be familiar with missionary work and the gospel. But it was super fun!

That is pretty much it!

Id love to hear from y'all!

Live It Love It!

Hello!

This week has been a good week! So last Monday was something pretty cool! We got to gather together as a whole mission and go to Wan Chai to hear one of the twelve apostles speak to us (Elder Stevenson)! It was really inspiring and he talked a lot about trusting the Holy Ghost and acting on the impressions you get from it!

Elder Stevenson also told us that we follow the commandments because we love it! And I thought that was interesting because some people think commandments are like rules but it is all about your attitude and recognizing that commandments and mission rules or whatever are just to enable you to receive the blessings of heaven! It was pretty cool! He also told us stories of when he was a mission president in Japan!

On Tuesday we had out weekly zone lunch and district meeting. Also this member named Karmen loves giving the missionaries nick names so she calls me Grandpa and this other missionary (Elder Jepsen) Grandma! So she wanted to take some pictures with "Grandpa and Grandma" haha. She is super funny and super nice! She loves missionaries and it was just super fun getting to know her better and talking to her. Then we did a zone find I went with Elder Engel who is a Mandarin missionary. He taught me some more Mandarin and I taught him some Cantonese. It was interesting because I realized I could understand a lot more Mandarin than I thought but that is still not that much at all haha! It was super fun talking to people and getting to know them. We just really tried to talk to them and get to know them instead of jumping right into gospel talk. It is a pretty effective way to find because the people actually think you care about them.

Wednesday was crossroads.

Thursday a member invited us and our investigator to a pizza place. This investigator (his English name is Nicky) is really liking the church so this next week we are hoping to give him a baptismal date and by doing this hoping to bring back his mom!

Saturday we had a badminton and ping pong activity which both Nicky and his mom attended! It was super fun and I got to play ping pong with some Chinese people who are pretty dang good at ping pong! haha

Sunday was church! We had one Mandarin elder Come with us to Yuen Long church so we are in a tri companionship for a little bit! then we taught a lesson to a potential investigator and the lesson went really well. It was about prayer!

That is all! Thank you all for being the best!

Hot Hot Hot

Hello!!

This week has been getting pretty hot here! And we have to wear suit coats until General Conference! So everyday I sweat a lot. But good news is that after General Conference,e the Prophet is coming to Hong Kong and we will get the chance go go and listen to him speak! They rented out a huge building for him to speak to the members and anyone who wants to come! We are hoping that he will speak some Mandarin because he is fluent in Mandarin!

This week has been a good week. We met with our investigator named Nickie! He has a parent that is a less active and he said that once he knows the Book of Mormon is true he will be willing to get baptized! Which was super good! This will give us the opportunity to bring his mom back to church!!

We also had Stake Conference this week. We got to hear the area 70 over Asia speak which was really cool. He doesn't know Chinese but he had a translator and it was interesting to see how they translated everything he said to Cantonese. We also got to hear President and Sister Lam speak. They spoke on missionary work and encouraged all the young kids to go on missions. They said that there are around 730 young mission aged kids in Hong Kong right know and only 1/3 of them choose to or are on missions. So a lot of the focus of our missionary work is to strengthen these kids to get to the point to go serve a mission!

This week we also met with a less active who is super nice and loves the church. It is just that his wife won't let him meet with the missionaries or go to church but he has a really strong testimony and love meeting with the missionaries. It is super cool and touched my heart how faithful he is.

We also brought our investigators to this stake conference which was really cool! They really enjoyed it!

That is pretty much all for this week.

Poon Choi Festival

Leih hou,

This week has been really fun week. To start it off I went with Elder Siddoway (Douh) to a Chinese temple in Siu Hong. Then we went to the beach to play some beach volleyball! It was super fun and it was really good to see Wyatt! Then after Pday ended The Chan Family in our ward invited us over to dinner. The food was classic Chinese food like pig skin which is pretty gross but i just tried to eat it as fast as I could. Then we taught them a lesson! They are a super nice family and really willing to help the missionaries!

On Tuesday nothing much happened but a less active invited us over for dinner as well! So we taught him about the importance of testimonies and not giving your testimony up for anything like Almulek in Alma 11. Then later he has called us to give him a priesthood blessing!

Wednesday was just normal Crossroads day.

Thursday we got to play soccer for 2 hours because we had two different investigators that scheduled to play soccer with us at two different times! This was really fun because I haven't been able to play soccer that long since before my mission! It was great and both lessons went super well!

Friday nothing much happened. We just attended English class because one of our investigators goes so we got to help him learn English. '

Saturday we taught our kids English class. The kids were wild like always haha.

Sunday was church and then our bishop had us over for dinner and we got to know them better. His wife is from the Indonesia and she didn't know Cantonese when she first got here but now her Cantonese is really flawless and that has been a huge example to me.

That is all! I would love to hear from you all!
