Leih hou!

This week has been good. Last week I forgot to mention that I will be staying in YL as we have received transfer calls and I will not be changing! I will be staying in YL for about 6 months after this transfer! I am pretty happy about it!

This week as good! On Tuesday we did another zone find. I went with Elder Jepsen for this zone find. We did the find in Tin Sau again. It was really interesting because we just tried to talk to everyone and we actually did pretty good we got a decent amount of people that were interested. Talking to everyone is key! To give everyone the chance to hear our message!

On Wednesday we went to Crossroads! We just helped paint and sweep a huge room in the area. It was kind of boring but good to do.

On Thursday we just did an English class find so we went to Long Ping and just tried to talk to people and hand out fliers advertising our free English class. And then we had ward correlation that night.

On Friday we taught our English class. We had about 5 little kids there. The little kids are so funny! They love playing games so we teach them English and then play games with them that have to do with English stuff.  It is actually pretty fun.

On Saturday we had a stake activity. The sister missionaries put on an American dessert activity so we invited our investigators to come try some American dessert. And surprisingly American dessert has a lot more sugar than Chinese dessert and I thought the American ones didn't taste as good. haha. It was a really good opportunity to deepen our relationship with our investigator. And a member from Yuen Long also brought a referral for us.

That is pretty much it. I love and miss you guys!

I bought Chairman Mao's little red book. He is the communist leader that used to lead main land China. Mao teaches about Communism pretty much. I haven't started reading too much of it. But he talks about Communism and just like some stories. In Main land China the little red book is super popular because when Chairman Mao gave it out he gave little red books to everyone especially all the little children haha. So a ton of people have it in main land, not so many people have it here, but I just thought Id buy it hhaha.
This is my boy, Liuh Sang! He is the best apartment guard in all of China!
He likes taking pictures with us haha! And then makes fun of us all the time for being Leng jai "cute boys".

San Lihn

Hello!

This week was the Chinese New years. So Hong Kong, especially Yuen Long felt kind of empty because a lot of people here go to Mainland China for the New Year. So for the new year I have heard a ton of drums, fireworks, and everyone here wears like a red Chinese jacket thing with dragons on it. If it isn't red, it has dragons on it. It has been a pretty cool sight. Also the people have work off so i have been seeing a lot more families walking around which is really unusual because most people here work all day long and so people are usually just walking around by themselves.

This week on Tuesday we didn't have much going on. We went to  do the zone find and I got to be with Elder Lagana who is from the Philippines and is 26 years old. He also just got to Hong Kong on his mission. It was really cool going to find with him and hearing about his life story and helping him learn Cantonese.

Wednesday was Cross Roads our weekly service activity. We didn't really have anything else that day besides our studies and ward correlation.

Thursday we visited some less actives and taught about agency. The mom was really happy because she is active and her two daughters are less active and she was super happy we came by. We invited them to attend our talks that we would be giving on Sunday for new years. And they came!

Friday we just gave out red Chinese decorations. We hoped it would stop people because the Chinese love these decorations because I has a blessing on it and they leave it up all year until next Chinese new year. But this idea didn't really work because people ended up just taking the decoration and then saying thanks and walking away.

Sunday we gave talks. This is my second talk that I have had to give. And to make this one worse a member from the 70 was attending ha ha. It was kind of scary but I spoke on Christ and His charity! It ended up going really well.

That is all. Love you all.

This is what a typical house looks like. Just one room and then a side small room for the bed room. This is a less actives house.
Here is the sketchiest mode of transportation here. a Siu ba! These mini buses have crazy drivers that just weave in between cars, people, and bikers. It is actually kind of fun to ride in one however.
We had zone conference on Saturday and they taught us about some Chinese characters that just further prove our religion. Since Chinese is the oldest way of writing in the world, the characters used here have been used since way before the birth of Christ. The top character is a tree and then one on the second line is a woman. Then below that if you combine the two, it means prohibited which is interesting because Eve took the forbidden fruit from a tree and she is a women. I found this very interesting. Then almost every religion has some sort of writing of a supreme being that has visited them and the word for god is a mix of three words: See Sun and Pillar. This is kind of cool because it is like the Joseph Smith story and it just goes to show that even the Chinese people way back a long time ago have seen God in one big pillar of light. It was very cool to learn this.

The kids here are dressed in their Chinese new year outfit. You might not be able to see it because my camera is awful but they all have dragons on their shirts.
Just some more Chinese decorations and costumes.
These are little red packets that people hand out all the time for Chinese new year. It usually has money in it but when we get money we have to give it back to the church for fast offerings.

Almost Chinese New Year

Leih hou

This week has been a great week. So last Monday we ate at a really nice Chinese breakfast place and it was super fun. A bunch of Chinese old ladies were super shocked that a bunch of white boys could speak Cantonese so they took like 5 pictures with us!

On Tuesday we had zone lunch and zone meeting! After we did a zone find in Tin Shui Wai, I went with Elder Hayden (a Mandarin missionary) for this find. I love Elder Hayden. During this finding time it was super cool because Elder Hayden would speak Mandarin to the people we talked to and they would reply and I would have no idea what they were saying. And then I would speak Cantonese to them and they would reply to me in Cantonese and Elder Hayden wouldn't know what they were saying. It was super fun working with Elder Hayden in Mandarin and Cantonese to try to bring people to know the Lord! It actually worked out because people would want to talk to us because we could speak both Cantonese and Mandarin so people were really impressed and would stop to talk to us!

On Wednesday we did out classic Cross Roads Service and then had ward Correlation with our ward mission leader.

On Friday I went on exchanges with Elder Jepsen in his area (Tin Shui Wai). It was really fun! We taught his investigator who had a baptismal date and then we went with the Mandarin Missionaries to give a tour of the chapel to a family. And then we taught English class.

On Saturday we were had scheduled around 4 potential investigators to meet with us but they all called to reschedule because they all said they had Chinese new year stuff they needed to do which kind of sucked because we were really looking forward for Saturday!

This Sunday I went on exhanges with the Mandarin Elder Hayden to his church which was also really fun! And then went back to my area and our church leader scheduled all 4 of the Yuen Long Elders to give a talk next week for church because it is Chinese new year and no one will be at church so they are only doing an hour or church so all of us have to speak.

That was it for this week.

Yuen Long

Leih Hou!

This week has been really busy! So Monday was a normal day for us because this week we were able to go to the temple! So Monday we just did normal missionary work.  We met with Tam Hingdaaih. He is going back to America soon and he decided to buy us all food at a restaurant and it was super cool and super fun because he also served in Hong Kong on his mission and he just shared a bunch of missionary experiences and it was really powerful being able to relate to him!

On Wednesday we went to the temple! It was super beautiful and super peaceful! Temples truly are the house of the Lord!

This week we also decided to stretch our faith and try to schedule some potentials that were found a long time ago. This was very interesting because normally you call them and they hang up on you but we chose some names to call prayerfully and we have scheduled about 4 potentials which was super cool!

Faith really does bring miracles!

You guys are all the best!

Us at the temple. It was raining that day so we had to stay under the temple to not get wet.
 Some Chinese new year decorations.
This is Brother Tam who is the best! He is the nicest and sweetest man! I love him so much but he will be going back to America in a week or so.
 This is us doing emails.
