Dou Dak

What is up!

This week has been a pretty normal week so this email might be a bit brief ha ha. To start it out, this week looked like a good week like we were going to get a few new investigators and get some people at church and meet with investigators but as the week went on, all these plans fell through haha. This happens pretty commonly. But none the less it was still a good week!

This week I got to go on exchanges with Elder Jepsen in his area TSW (Tin Shui Wai). It isn't too far from Yuen Long probably just a 5 minute Sai Tit ride but while I was there we taught a lesson to John, their investigator, about the Restoration. He seemed to accept it pretty well, we gave him a book of Mormon and he said he would read it. It was interesting because we met with him in the TSW park and normally when people are walking around the investigator will be distracted but John was pretty focused on the lesson and asked a lot of good questions. Over all the lesson went well and the exchanges were super fun as well! I love Elder Jepsen and I learned a lot from him even thought he is 2 months shorter than I am.

This week was also super cool because one of our members (Lai Jimuih) or Sister Lai invited her friend from high school and us to a lunch and it was just super spiritual to see that Lai Jimuih trusted us enough to introduce us to a dear friend of hers from high school. Her friend had to go really fast because she still needed to go to work so we shared a quick lesson about what missionaries do and Christ. It went well we just need to follow up with Lai Jimuih about it.

This week we also got to go to a stake soccer activity which was super fun we took our investigator Avery to it with us and we played soccer with him for the whole time and we really got to know him! so it was good. After the soccer activity we were able to go to a ward activity which was karaoke! we sang a few songs as missionaries but it was super fun. Karaoke here in china is a big thing! haha But the Chinese songs are super awful and don't even sound good hahaha. It is super funny to watch and hear.

The most spiritual thing that happened was I had the opportunity to talk to a sister from the HSK (Hung Shui Kiu) ward to about her mission. She is going to go to the Salt Lake City Temple Square mission in June and she is super nervous to go. She was like shaking just talking about it but it was super sweet conversation because she is feeling a lot of the same feelings that I had felt and it was just super cool to talk to her about it she will do great!

Just a side note but a lot of sisters from Hong Kong get called to temple square so if any of you see them you should definitely say hello for me haha!

That is pretty much it.

I love you all

Hello!

This week has been full of good things! So to start it off. Last Monday wasn't pday, it was just a normal day because this week we got to go to the temple so the actual pday was on Friday. Let me just say that the temple is truly the house of God! The spirit in there is super strong every time I
go.

This week we also got to go to the little dinner restaurant that a sister in our ward owns. It was super good, just the classic noodles and soups. But it was a very good meeting we taught about faith and it was super good for my companion to get to know the ward better because there were 3 sisters from our ward that came as well!

We also got to teach our investigator Yan Yan who is really trying to know if this church is true. She knows the bible pretty well and her friends tell her our church isn't true but she really wants to find out for her self which is the first step! She keeps our invitations and commitments and is progressing really well! our bishop is super involved in helping her out as well!

This week I had the strongest spiritual feeling. The prophet was good! We took two investigators and two less actives with us and it was really good! I sat next to one investigator (Yan Yan) and our less active (Jehng ga lam or Hillary). It was super super good. He just talked about how the last time he came to Hong Kong there was like 50-60 people there but this time there was 1000 or more people there i don't know how many. He talked a little mandarin at the beginning which was cool and then just spoke English with a Cantonese translator after every sentence. and he spoke about how the work of the Lord has progressed everywhere in the world and then he made people from Hong Kong stand up and then people from mainland stand up and then he had people from all other parts of the world stand up and literally everyplace he named people stood up. So I think there was someone at this talk from every part of the world. And he talked about Christ being true and shared some story about his doctor career. I felt the spirit a lot during his talk but the time that I felt the spirit the most was when he finished speaking and I turned to the less active (Hillary) and she was crying. I didn't know what to say to her so I didn't say anything i just kind of watched her cry. And then the next day after she texted us telling us how grateful she was for us and helping her feel the spirit again. it was super cool and it just made me realize that this is what missionary work is supposed to be like. It is helping people feel the spirit and know that they can return to live with God. This truly was a blessing from heaven.

Our other less active that we came with us to the prophet traveled home with us and he was super happy and thankful he was able to see the prophet. He has a solid testimony and it was super cool to hear him talk about the prophet.

As for investigators, here is a list:

Yan Yan: She is about 30s and a teacher. She knows the Bible pretty well but she is super interested in actually figuring out if our church is true. her friends call our church "cheh gaau" which literally translates into evil religion but it means cult. but she wants to find out for her self.

Nicky: Nicky is about 16 and has a less active mom in out ward. He has really good interest but recently him and his mom don't feel welcome at church so we haven't been able to contact them for a bit.

Mr. Yip: he as about 76 and he loves us. the only problem is his family might not approve of him so he is a little scared about that and we are trying to work with him.

Henry: he is 18 and we have only met with him 2 times and played soccer with him and taught the restoration. He said he already had a book of Mormon but his mom threw it away calling us a " cheh gaau" but we gave him another one.

This is pretty much it for this week! i would love to hear from you all!

The Avengers is crazy big here. I would love someone to tell me what happens in the movie because my family won't tell me.

Leih hou!

This week has been very good! This last week on Monday we had to go to the doctor because my companion had a wart that he needed to come off because it is on his foot and it bothered him when he walked. So that is what we did for pday last Monday!

This week wasn't too special, but this next week will be. We have a temple day and then the next day we will be going to see the PROPHET speak to us! I am super excited!

So here is a spiritual experience that happened.

I read in 1 Nephi that when Nephi had trials he prayed and praised the Lord instead of complaining about his problems. This is also in the chapter when he had to build a boat to go to the promised land. But he thanked the lord and he was blessed for it. So i have been trying to implement this into my own prayers. As a result my prayers have been a lot more meaningful and seemed to help me a lot more than before. This was super cool to see because God truly does answer your prayers and listens to them.

That is pretty much all. Sorry I am emailing so late today! Sorry mom.

I would love to hear from all of you!

This is the only picture for this week, but these are the character cards the give us to learn. The only way to learn is through memorization. I have been trying to learn and each time I do it, my amazement towards the chinese people goes up like by 100000000000000 because not only do they know how to read but they know how to do each character with the correct stroke patterns. It blows my mind and my respect went up for the Chinese people so much.

New Companion and General Conference

This week has been pretty interesting week! I had to say good bye to my companion that I have been with for my whole mission up to now. So 6 months. It was cool but I needed the change. My new companion is Elder Condie. He is kinda a Star Wars nerd haha. He is obsessed with it. He has been out for about 16 months.
This week since my last companion was moving areas, a ton of people from our ward invited us over to their houses to eat with them. This week was super full because of this. Every day we had a dinner with someone! It was really cool. Sadly I didn't bring my camera for any of them, sorry mom. But I will remember next time! It is super cool to get to know these families and how they are. For example the Bishop's wife cooked lunch for us and then she wanted her two sons (Michael 16 yrs, and Brenden 14 yrs) to come finding with us. So we took them to go teach Sister Yip who is a blind lady that lives in our ward. Which was a super cool experience. Sister Yip's testimony of Christ is super strong. Then after we took them finding or street contacting. It was super interesting because they were terrified to do it. But I couldn't blame them. It is pretty hard to street contact here.
Other than that we had General Conference and I went in with a bunch of questions and came out with a bunch of answers which helped me a ton! I am so glad we have a living prophet today! I loved Elder Feo's talk about the love of Christ! It was something that meant a lot to me! I am going to try to apply more of Christ's love in my daily life!
That is pretty much all that happened this week! I would love to hear from you all! Keep up the good work!

Dim,

This week I forgot to bring my notebook of what happened so this email might be pretty short!

We did get new transfers! I am staying in Yuen Long (my baby area) and I will be getting a new companion named Elder Condie! So hopefully it will work out well! I have been in Yuen long of about 6 months and after this next transfer I will be here for 8 months! I love Yuen Long though!

This week I went on an exchange for Sunday with the Mandarin missionary named Elder Hayden. We taught a lesson to one of their investigators. It was pretty hard to do for me because I can't understand too much Mandarin but it was pretty fun! It is just interesting to do this because even though I can't understand too much of what has been said, I could feel the spirit and that is pretty cool because no matter what language you speak you can always feel the spirit and recognize it!

On Saturday we also had a huge stake soccer activity that we invited a few investigators to and we got to play soccer with them for a while and then we all wend to McDonald's after to teach them a lesson! It was pretty cool to teach about prayer in a McDonald's!

Last Pday we went to Tai Bo to go bike riding on a dam! It was pretty cool!

Other than that I can't remember what happened! I will bring my notebook next time! I am sorry!
