Hello!
This week has been full of good
things! So to start it off. Last Monday wasn't pday, it was just a
normal day because this week we got to go to the temple so the actual
pday was on Friday. Let me just say that the temple is truly the house of God! The spirit in there is super strong every time I
go.
This
week we also got to go to the little dinner restaurant that a sister in
our ward owns. It was super good, just the classic noodles and soups.
But it was a very good meeting we taught about faith and it was super
good for my companion to get to know the ward better because there were 3
sisters from our ward that came as well!
We
also got to teach our investigator Yan Yan who is really trying to know
if this church is true. She knows the bible pretty well and her friends
tell her our church isn't true but she really wants to find out for her
self which is the first step! She keeps our invitations and commitments
and is progressing really well! our bishop is super involved in helping
her out as well!
This week I had the strongest
spiritual feeling. The prophet was good! We took two investigators and
two less actives with us and it was really good! I sat next to one
investigator (Yan Yan) and our less active (Jehng ga lam or Hillary). It
was super super good. He just talked about how the last time he came to Hong Kong there was like 50-60 people there but this time there was
1000 or more people there i don't know how many. He talked a little
mandarin at the beginning which was cool and then just spoke English
with a Cantonese translator after every sentence. and he spoke about how
the work of the Lord has progressed everywhere in the world and then he
made people from Hong Kong stand up and then people from mainland stand
up and then he had people from all other parts of the world stand up
and literally everyplace he named people stood up. So I think there was
someone at this talk from every part of the world. And he talked about Christ being true and shared some story about his doctor career. I felt
the spirit a lot during his talk but the time that I felt the spirit the
most was when he finished speaking and I turned to the less active
(Hillary) and she was crying. I didn't know what to say to her so I
didn't say anything i just kind of watched her cry. And then the next
day after she texted us telling us how grateful she was for us and
helping her feel the spirit again. it was super cool and it just made me
realize that this is what missionary work is supposed to be like. It is
helping people feel the spirit and know that they can return to live
with God. This truly was a blessing from heaven.
Our
other less active that we came with us to the prophet traveled home
with us and he was super happy and thankful he was able to see the
prophet. He has a solid testimony and it was super cool to hear him talk
about the prophet.
As for investigators, here is a list:
Yan
Yan: She is about 30s and a teacher. She knows the Bible pretty well but
she is super interested in actually figuring out if our church is true.
her friends call our church "cheh gaau" which literally translates into
evil religion but it means cult. but she wants to find out for her
self.
Nicky: Nicky is about 16 and has a less
active mom in out ward. He has really good interest but recently him and
his mom don't feel welcome at church so we haven't been able to contact
them for a bit.
Mr. Yip: he as about 76 and he
loves us. the only problem is his family might not approve of him so he
is a little scared about that and we are trying to work with him.
Henry:
he is 18 and we have only met with him 2 times and played soccer with
him and taught the restoration. He said he already had a book of Mormon
but his mom threw it away calling us a " cheh gaau" but we gave him
another one.
This is pretty much it for this week! i would love to hear from you all!
Elder Gu
The Avengers is crazy big here. I would love someone to tell me what happens in the movie because my family won't tell me.
